We'll be at Anime North this weekend! This will be our first time at an anime convention. I wonder how different it is from a comicon?

Nathan Cameron Painting

This is a digital painting I did of my friend Nathan Cameron. I saved each step and there will be a step by step of this painting featured next Month in CG Arena's Digital Magazine. My Aretha Franklin will be featured as a step by step in July's 3D Total Magazine. Stay tuned for both of these.

Nathan is a good friend of mine who's a talented director/editor, he's filmed, directed, and edited music videos and short films . . . really cool stuff. He and I are currently finishing up my DVD on sketching . . . working on the editing end of things.

Detail. I felt it important even though I was going for a more realistic rendering to keep it brushy and loose in areas. It's painted and I want people to see that.

Here's the main reference of Nathan that I used for my painting.

Water Worlds SOLD OUT!

Water Worlds was a great success! It sold out quicker than all our other books with maybe the exception of Subway Sketches. A huge thank you to all of you that purchased a copy. You're the reason we are able to do our independent art.

We're wrapping up our Life Drawing book soon. Hopefully get it to the printers by the end of the week.

Much love from Imaginism Studios!

Learn How to Talk to Moms !

Here's the second book from the "How to" series by super-kid and (New York Time's Bestselling Author) Alec Greven, that I had the privilege of illustrating! It's a really wonderful book that reminds us all (no matter what age) how to be good :)
Alec is such a thoughtful kid, I could have used this when I was younger!

Also, the "How to" books have now gone GLOBAL! With editions in German, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, UK, Czech, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Hebrew!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

-Kei

P.S. If you're around the Toronto area, we will be at TCAF this weekend!

Babylon

Here's one of my surreal pieces. Usually I don't show these (I just do them for fun) but this year I submitted one to Spectrum and it got accepted! Oh fun, oh joy!

It's called "Babylon"
It's about society getting so advanced that they build their buildings into the clouds. There they are met by creatures with giant blisters on their heads that are filled with cheese. They feed off of business people because they taste the best.

This might be a little too weird for some but sometimes art is just about having fun. Hope you like it.

I'll be making a "one of a kind" print of this at 13"x19" signed with certificate. You can email purchasing {at} imaginismstudios.com if you're interested.
